Building A Marriage That Will Go The Distance

James C. Dobson, PhD, is founder and president of Focus on the Family, a non-profit organization that produces his nationally syndicated radio program heard daily on more than 2,000 stations. He was for 14 years an associate clinical professor of pediatrics at the University of Southern California School of Medicine, and served for 17 years on the attending staff of Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in the Division of Child Development and Medical Genetics. He has an earned Ph.D from the University of Southern California, and honorary doctorates from Pepperdine University,  Franciscan University, Seattle Pacific University, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Mid America Nazarene College.

Doctor Dobson has written many bestselling books for the family, including Hide or Seek, The Strong Willed Child, Straight Talk, and Love Must be Tough.

Doctor Dobson has also been involved in governmental activities for more than a decade. He served on the task force which summarized the White House Conferences on the Family and received a special commendation from President Jimmy Carter in 1989. He was appointed by President Ronald Reagan to the National Advisory Commission for Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, 1982-1984. From 1984 to 1992, he was regularly invited to the White House to consult with Presidents Reagan and George Bush and their staffs on family matters.

He also served as Chairman of the U.S. Army Task Force on Families and was appointed by Attorney General Edwin Meese’s Commission on Pornography, 1985-1986. In the spring of 1987 he was appointed to the Attorney General’s Advisory Board on Missing and Exploited Children.
